Hospital building exteriorResidents of Indian River County enjoy personalized, state-of-the-art medical care. Two full-service hospitals serve the area:  Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital  in Vero Beach, and Sebastian River Medical Center. Both facilities have 24-hour emergency room service, special care centers and the very latest in diagnostic equipment.

Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is a 332-bed, not-for-profit hospital with over 250 affiliated physicians representing 41 different specialties. The hospital features all private rooms and is the largest private-sector employer in Indian River County, with 2,027 employees. Cleveland Clinic IRH is accredited by The Joint Commission, with its stroke program awarded the Gold Seal of Approval and designation as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center of Excellence. 

Cleveland Clinic IRH Heart Center offers cardiac surgery, angioplasty and a full array of cardiac services. The hospital's comprehensive cancer program includes surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, plus a $1.5 million Brilliance CT Scanner® at the Scully-Welsh Cancer Center.  

Serving northern Indian River County and neighboring Brevard County, Sebastian River Medical Center is a 154-bed acute care hospital offering surgical services that include: orthopedic, sports medicine, thoracic and endovascular using the newest technology in minimally-invasive surgery. The hospital team consists of 132 physicians, a nursing and ancillary staff of approximately 500, and a volunteer staff of 200. SRMC offers an array of services including inpatient and medical/surgical services, cardiac catheterization program including implant devices, neurosurgery and spine surgery and a full-service outpatient diagnostic center.

Fully accredited by the Joint Commission, Sebastian River Medical Center brings the latest technology and treatment to the Treasure Coast region by using innovative tools for surgery: the daVinci® Surgical System and MAKOplasty® Partial Knee Resurfacing and MAKOplasty® Total Hip Replacement. SRMC is a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, designated by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) and the American College of Surgeons (ACS). SRMC is a Certified Primary Stroke Center and consistently recognized for clinical excellence.

Additional healthcare facilities include:

HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital - an 80-bed acute care specialty hospital providing personalized care for patients in need of physical, occupational and speech Therapy. Accredited by the Joint Commission, it holds disease specific certifications for brain injury and stroke making it a Stroke Center of Excellence. 

Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, just north of Indian River County, provides trauma care for Indian River County residents through a partnership with the University of Florida. Holmes Regional is a full-service, not-for-profit, 514-bed hospital with over 500 highly skilled medical staff members. Holmes Trauma Center offers 24/7 trauma care and rapid patient transport via First Flight aeromedical helicopter. 

Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, a Level II trauma center in Fort Pierce, recently opened a free-standing Emergency Department in south Vero Beach.  The facility includes 12 exam rooms, CT scan and X-ray services, a laboratory and pharmacy.
