The Economic Development Return on Public Investment in Indian River County
Apr. 29, 2016
The Washington Economics Group prepared a report demonstrating the return on investment on economic development activities in Indian River County.
Dr. Tony Villamil, Founder and Principle of the Washington Economics Group (WEG), presented a summary of the Economic Impact Brief at the 5/24/16 County Commission meeting. WEG estimates that Indian River County receives economic benefits 15 times greater than the $3 million invested by the county from 2007 to 2015. Additionally, 639 direct and indirect new jobs were generated as a result – the majority in higher-wage jobs. This includes funds paid to new and expanding firms through the county’s Local Jobs Grant program plus expenditures in our Chamber’s economic development efforts.
The report was requested by the Chamber's economic development office with costs paid through the Economic Leadership Alliance investor program.
