Manufacturing Bootcamp
We are now in the planning stage for our 2024 Manufacturing Bootcamp week, scheduled for June 3-7.  Click here to download an informational brochure, or here to access the online program application.

The program is FREE, and available to all high school students in Indian River County, age 16-20:  public school, private school, Charter school, home-schoolers and those finishing up their GEDs.  Priority consideration is given to students enrolled in Career & Technical Education curriculum (CTE).  You must be at least 16 years old by the start of the program.

The program provides high school students and young adults an opportunity to consider an alternative career path in the manufacturing industry.  It is a FREE week-long program, that immerses participants into the manufacturing environment with facility tours and one-on-one conversations with owners and plant managers.

The FREE event will provide information on state and federal programs that can help mitigate risk when hiring workers who may have had a criminal past, plus info on training programs for new and existing workers, or those who were displaced from agricultural jobs.  Local employers will also be on hand to share their experiences with these programs.

CareerSource Research Coast, our regional workforce agency, is an employer driven organization. The agency’s goal is to help employers expand and grow their businesses. They have developed resources to meet the needs of local employers, most at no cost to the employer, including:

Indian River State College (IRSC) is committed to advancing workforce and career training in our region. The college, recognized as one of the mostly advanced distance-learning centers in the U.S., maintains four campuses in our region offering Associate, Technical and Bachelor degree programs. The Mueller Campus in Vero Beach offers a variety of classes and can facilitate training grants and programs for local business and industry. The Dean of Industrial Education at IRSC will assist in applying for training funds available through the State of Florida.

IRSC’s Fast Track to Manufacturing Program is a 12-week program  designed around an initial set of technical skills, with the goal of  participants gaining an interview for employment with one of the  college’s partnering manufacturing companies. The college also  provides training courses in:

  • OSHA and Safety Training
  • Power Plant Technology Institute
  • Robotics and Photonics Institute
  • Welding Program

The Kight Center for Emerging Technologies at the IRSC Main Campus in Fort Pierce is a regional high-tech educational hub with facilities and programs that offer customized hands-on training in robotics and modern manufacturing techniques for area employers, plus a prototype lab for area manufacturers.
