State Resources
The E.D. Office works closely with our partners at the state level. The Florida Department of Commerce, also known as SelectFlorida, is our statewide economic development agency. They promote Florida for relocation and expansion, plus administer many of the incentive programs available to companies meeting eligibility criteria to encourage their relocation to, or expansion in, Indian River County. Please visit our Incentives page for details on state and local incentive programs.
The State of Florida offers a website for new businesses that will help you search and access filed information for: corporations, limited liability companies, limited partnerships, general partnerships, trademarks, fictitious name registrations and liens. Images of most filed documents can be downloaded at no charge plus most filing forms are available for download. Electronic filing and certification is also available on this site. For information on other Florida government agencies, please visit the state's official website at myflorida.com.
Corporations and artificial entities that conduct business, or earn or receive income in Florida, including out-of-state corporations, file a Florida corporate income tax return with the Florida Department of Revenue unless specifically exempt. The return must be filed, even if no tax is due. Florida's Corporate Tax rate is 5.5%.
S-Corporations and tax-exempt organizations are generally not required to file a Florida corporate income tax return if they do not have federal taxable income. If they have federal taxable income, however, they are then required to file a Florida corporate income tax return and pay any tax due.
