A Vision Realized: Oslo Road Interchange Opens Ahead of Schedule

Oct. 12, 2026

The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the opening of the Oslo Road Interchange, a project the Chamber championed as a legislative priority for more than 20 years. Opened nearly a year ahead of schedule, the interchange represents a significant achievement in regional collaboration and a major investment in the county's economic future.

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. – October 9, 2026 – The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce is celebrating the opening of the new Interstate 95/Oslo Road Interchange, a long-sought infrastructure project that the Chamber championed as a legislative priority for more than two decades. The new interchange is expected to strengthen freight mobility, support industrial growth, and enhance regional connectivity throughout Indian River County.

The project marks the culmination of years of collaboration among the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners, the Metropolitan Planning Organization, state and federal partners, and local business leaders who recognized its long-term importance to Indian River County. The project officially broke ground on August 7, 2023, at a ceremony organized by the Chamber, and opened to traffic on October 5, 2026, nearly a year ahead of schedule.

“The opening of the Oslo Road Interchange is a tremendous achievement for our community and a testament to what can be accomplished when public and private sector leaders work together toward a common vision,” said Andrea Beam, President of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce. “For more than two decades, the Chamber and its members advocated for this project because we understood the opportunities it would create for businesses, workers, and future generations. Today, we celebrate the realization of a long-held vision for Indian River County’s future.”

The new interchange provides direct access to I-95 from the Oslo Road corridor for the first time and serves one of Indian River County's most important commercial and industrial growth areas. The improved access is expected to support manufacturing, warehousing, distribution, and other employment-generating investments while strengthening freight movement, emergency response capabilities, and business recruitment efforts.

“I am thrilled to see the Oslo Road/I-95 Interchange open, and almost a year ahead of schedule,” said Helene Caseltine, former Economic Development Director for the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce. “Over the past 25 years, the Chamber has worked relentlessly to see this project come to fruition.”

The Chamber's Economic Development Office organized the project's groundbreaking ceremony in August 2023, marking the start of construction on an effort that had remained a Chamber legislative priority for decades.

The Chamber's advocacy included maintaining support for the interchange through multiple county commissions, MPO boards, legislative sessions, and transportation planning cycles. Chamber leaders consistently viewed the project as critical infrastructure needed to accommodate long-term growth, improve freight movement, and expand opportunities for business investment and job creation in South County.

“Major community projects like this require persistence, partnerships, and a shared vision,” said Daryl Loar, Chairman of the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners. “The Oslo Road Interchange will improve mobility, strengthen emergency preparedness, and create new opportunities for economic growth in South County. The Chamber deserves recognition for helping keep this project a priority for many years.”

“This interchange is an excellent example of what can be accomplished through sustained collaboration among local governments, transportation agencies, elected officials, and the business community,” said John Titkanich, County Administrator. “Projects of this magnitude take years of planning and coordination. The result is infrastructure that will improve mobility, support economic development, and enhance quality of life for residents throughout Indian River County.”

As Indian River County's first new interstate interchange in more than 50 years, the project will help position the community for continued economic growth, job creation, and private investment.

“This project demonstrates what can be achieved when a community commits to a long-term vision and works together to make it a reality,” said Beam. “The Chamber looks forward to continuing its work with our public and private sector partners to capitalize on the opportunities this investment creates and to advance the next generation of priorities that will support economic prosperity throughout Indian River County.”
